Panthers To Sign Dontari Poe

Published

on

The Carolina Panthers will be bolstering their defensive line, agreeing to terms with Dontari Poe, according to the Washington Post’s Kimberley A. Martin.

Poe will fill the void left by the departure of defensive tackle Star Lotulelei who signed with the Buffalo Bills earlier this week.

Poe spent last season with the Atlanta Falcons, but now joins a formidable line that boasts Kawann Short, Julius Peppers and Mario Addison.

Three Takeaways from the Detroit Lions loss to the Chicago Bears, keeping them last in the NFC North at 3-6.

1. The defense didn’t help the offense and the offense didn’t help the defense

Right from the start of this game, the Lions defense could not stop the Bears offense. The Bears scored on every possession in the 1st half of the game while the Lions offense was only able to put up seven points in the 1st half. But, when the defense made adjustments and were able to get a few stops in the 2nd half, the offense wasn’t able to return the favor as they would either turn the ball over or struggle to get 1st downs. This is why the lead was so large for the Bears that the Lions couldn’t try and comeback from it.

2. Darius Slay was clearly missed this game

The Bears receivers had a field day against the Lions secondary in this game. Allen Robinson was one of them as he had his best game of the season with two touchdowns and 133 yards. Darius Slay missed this game with a knee injury and he would’ve probably been the one to guard Robinson this game. But, none of the secondary was really able to get a stop so Slay would’ve been able to only do so much for the defense.

3. Nobody really stuck out this game

There really wasn’t anybody or anything that really impressed this game. The defense looked bad from the start, the offense was bad too, and special teams were average.

This game was bad for the Lions as soon as the opening kickoff happened. This loss keeps Detroit at the bottom of the NFC North and there was truly nothing positive to come out of this game. Things are only looking worse for the team as they lost both big divisional games that were going to determine where their season was headed. The Lions host the Panthers next week and Carolina is looking for revenge after their embarrassment against the Steelers. With how bad the Lions have played recently and a playoff team coming into Ford Field next week, the rest of this season may be dark for Lions fans.

The Carolina Panthers have signed veteran running back Travaris Cadet, according to the Charlotte Observer’s Jourdan Rodrigue.

Cadet was signed following the release of running back C.J. Anderson earlier on Tuesday and he will provide depth, along with Cameron Artis-Payne, behind starter Christian McCaffrey, who has dominated all the touches this season in Carolina’s backfield.

Cadet was cut during roster trim downs by the Buffalo Bills prior to the start of the regular season.

Panthers’ Thomas Davis Says This Year’s Team ‘Most Talented’ He’s Been On

Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis has seen a lot during his career and tenure with the Panthers, and he is feeling pretty confident about 2018’s Panthers team, calling it the most talented that he has been around.

Davis was responding to recent comments made by Panthers quarterback Cam Newton who compared this team to other Panther teams in the past.

“He’s been on a more talented team than this one?” Davis asked, according to ESPN’s David Newton. “I’ve been around a lot of Cam teams, other than at Auburn, and they weren’t that talented down there either. But this might be his most talented team. I don’t know what he’s talking about.

“From my observations, being a part of the 2015 team, athletically, speed-wise, from that standpoint in particularly on the offensive side, this is definitely the most talented set of guys I’ve been around.”
