Larry Fitzgerald Recruiting Kirk Cousins

Published

on

The Kirk Cousins Sweepstakes has yet to officially kick out, but that isn’t stopping players from trying to recruit the quarterback to their team this offseason.

Arizona Cardinals legendary wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald is doing his part to try and lure Cousins to the desert and take over for the retired Carson Palmer.

Cousins posted a photo on Instagram of he and Fitzgerald, indicating that Fitzgerald was trying to recruit him and, according to his post, is doing a good job.

“Ran into Fitz in the airport yesterday. He’s a GREAT recruiter!” Cousins wrote.

Arizona doesn’t have the cap space ammunition that other teams interested in Cousins due, such as the New York Jets, so they will have to be creative in their approach but they are hoping that their roster and talent can help convince Cousins to take his talents to Arizona.

Cardinals Fire OC Mike McCarthy, Promote Byron Leftwich

Published

The Arizona Cardinals have fired offensive coordinator Mike McCoy amid constant struggles this year and following a 1-5 start to the season and their blowout loss to the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football.

With McCoy’s exit, the Cardinals are promoting quarterbacks coach, and former NFL signal caller, Byron Leftwich to offensive coordinator.

While Leftwich doesn’t have direct experience as an offensive coordinator, he is confident he can handle the role:

“I’m a pretty confident guy, but I had never done it, and I had never practiced it,” Leftwich said. “That’s the tough part. Knowing B.A., B.A. ain’t going to give you two weeks in practice to prepare. He gave me a 10-play period to call them. The first time I ever called plays was in the game. I wish I would have done a few things here and there better, but that’s the exciting part of growing in this business. That helped my growth.”

Cardinals Deny Shopping Patrick Peterson

Published

on

The Arizona Cardinals have denied rumors that they are actively shopping All-Pro cornerback Patrick Peterson with head coach Steve Wilks calling the rumors of a potential Peterson deal “ludicrous”, according to ESPN’s Josh Weinfruss.

The reports of Peterson being available in trade comes on the heels of last week’s report that the Cardinals were looking to deal  linebackers Deone Bucannon and Haason Reddick, and amid rumors that running back David Johnson is also available.

Arizona, who is currently 1-5, may be wise to start trading off players to stockpile assets, and also rid themselves of Peterson’s contract, which runs through the 2020 season and pays him roughly $12 million annually.
