The Minnesota Vikings had to wait, but their patience paid off as they finally got their man to replace offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur, who left to take the New York Giants’ head coaching gig.

The Vikings have announced the hiring of Philadelphia Eagles quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo as their new offensive coordinator, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

“We are very excited to add John to our staff,” Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer said in a press release. “We took our time with the search and made sure we left no stone unturned to get the right fit. He has a track record of success and has proven to be a great teacher. We feel John will have good chemistry with our team and we are all eager to get to work.”

DeFilippo has been the Eagles’ quarterbacks coach for the past 2 seasons, ending with a Super Bowl title.
