Former Green Bay Packers cornerback and current free agent Sam Shields is hoping to get another shot at playing in the NFL after a string of concussions kept him out of the NFL since the 2016 season opener.

Shields, 30, couldn’t find a team in 2017 but he is keeping his hopes alive that he can find an opportunity in free agency this offseason so he can resume his NFL career, according to Michael Cohen of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

At one point during his career, Shields, an undrafted free agent, was Green Bay’s #1 corner and even signed agreed to a four-year, $39M contract back in 2014.

Shields played 62 games in Green Bay, hauling in 18 interceptions and earning a Pro Bowl honor in 2014.
