The Detroit Lions won’t be in the market for a new offensive coordinator as the team is likely to retain current OC, Jim Bob Cooter, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Detroit interviewed Cooter for their head coaching position but ultimately decided to go with current New England Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia.

Cooter is likely to receive more coaching consideration moving forward as he is widely considered an up-and-coming coach in the NFL ranks.

Cooter has the support of Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford who lobbied for the offensive coordinator to be retained when former head coach Jim Caldwell was fired.
