Chiefs Hire Deland McCullough As Running Backs Coach
The Kansas City Chiefs have hired Deland McCullough to fill the role of running backs coach after the team promoted Eric Bieniemy from running backs coach to offensive coordinator.
The team announced the decision to hire McCullough, who helps fill the void left by the departure of Matt Nagy, who served as the Chiefs offensive coordinator before taking the Chicago Bears head coaching gig.
“Deland has a track record of success teaching young running backs and he’s also played in this league,” Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid said in a statement. “I enjoyed the time I spent getting to know him and believe he will be a very good addition to our coaching staff.
McCullough spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals and the Philadelphia Eagles as a player without seeing regular season action after spending last season as the running backs coach at the University of Southern California.
Prior to his stint at USC, McCullough served as running backs coach at the University of Indiana in for six seasons
