The Cleveland Browns attempted to work out a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs for quarterback Alex Smith prior to Smith’s move to the Washington Redskins, according to Mark Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, as many as 6 teams tried to acquire Smith before he was dealt to the Redskins on Tuesday.

Some of those teams included the Arizona Cardinals, according to Kent Somers of AZ Central Sports.

With Smith in Washington with the Redskins, teams like the Browns will be turning their attention on current Redskins quarterback, and soon-to-be free agent, Kirk Cousins.
