The Chicago Bears have placed Pernell McPhee on the injured reserve list on Wednesday shutting him down for the season and quite possibly shutting him down as a Bear.

McPhee signed a five-year deal, $38.8M deal with the Bears in 2015, but Chicago can cut him this offseason and save $7.075M while only taking on $1M in dead money. It’s easy to see the writing on the wall for McPhee.

In other moves, Chicago signed linebacker Jonathan Anderson to the active roster and signed wide receiver Mekale McKay to the practice squad.
