A rough year just came to an end for Oakland Raiders rookie cornerback Gareon Conley, who was placed on injured reserve today, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.

Conley, the Raiders’ 24th-overall pick in this year’s draft, suffered a shin injury after playing in Oakland’s first 2 games of the season and he hasn’t practiced with the team since early October.

Although it’s been a rough year for Conley, the team is high on him, according to Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Oakland and Conley decided that surgery is the best route, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport.

The Raiders activated defensive tackle Darius Latham from the Reserve/Suspended list to take Conley’s place on the roster. Latham was suspended back in early October for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.
