If you’re waiting for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to make his debut with the team, you’re going to have to wait a bit longer.

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said that rookie quarterback C.J. Beathard will get the nod for his fifth consecutive start when the Niners host the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

“Is Jimmy going to be the best he can? To me, that’s impossible” said Shanahan.

“He just hasn’t been here long enough. … I don’t think we’re going to see Jimmy’s best football, to be fair to him, until next year. Because that’s what guys need.”

It’s assumed that Beathard won’t have a long leash moving forward as the team will eventually want to see Garoppolo in action.
