Cardinals, Larry Fitzgerald Nearing Extension

Published

on

The Arizona Cardinals are working on keeping wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald in the fold through 2018.

Arizona is currently working on an extension with Fitzgerald, who has contemplated retirement, that would keep him in the fold beyond this season, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

The extension would be similar to what Fitzgerald signed with the Cards back in August that carried an $11M base salary.

Fitzgerald may be enticed by the possibility of playing with a potent Arizona team, one that has been ravaged by injuries this season, at full strength for one final run next year.

Arizona’s offense has sputtered, ranking last in yards per game, passing yards per game, and yards per attempt, prompting many fans to call for Rosen to replace Sam Bradford as the team’s starting quarterback.

With Bradford manning the offense, the Cardinals have scored 6 points.

Cardinals Release Scooby Wright

The Arizona Cardinals have released veteran linebacker Scooby Wright, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

Wright, 23, will be subject to waivers since he has less than four years of NFL experience, creating the possibility that another team could put in a claim for him prior to him hitting the open free agent market.
