The Carolina Panthers have signed struggling kicker Roberto Aguayo to their practice squad roster.

The Panthers are in a holding pattern when it comes to the health of kicker Graham Gano. Gano suffered a knee injury and it’s not clear if he will be able to play this upcoming weekend.

Aguayo provide Carolina a backup option should Gano be held out.

Aguayo, a former 2nd round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, struggled in his rookie season and was unable to keep his job this preseason.

After being cut by Tampa Bay, Aguayo latched on to the Chicago Bears but couldn’t hold down the job there either.
