Ward claims that his release happened in a “completely unprofessional” manner, according to NFL Network’s Peter Schrager.
Broncos team president and general manager John Elway had the following to say about Ward when Denver announced his release.
“He was a respected teammate whose attitude and physical mindset played a big part in our success, especially during our Super Bowl run,” Elway said, per ESPN.com’s Jeff Legwold.
“We thank T.J. for his contributions as a Bronco and wish him nothing but the best in the future.”

The move appears to be financially motivated as Denver saved $4.5 million by cutting Ward before the start of the regular season.
