The Seattle Seahawks just bolstered their defensive line by acquiring defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson from the New York Jets for wide receiver Jermaine Kearse, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Jets are also receiving the Seahawks’ 2018 second-round draft pick and the teams are swapping seventh-round picks.

Richardson, 26, is a former Defensive Rookie of the Year made the Pro Bowl in 2014, has been a concern to the Jets organization due to what they viewed as his immaturity.

Richardson should fill in for rookie Malik McDowell, who may miss his rookie season following an ATV accident.

Kearse, 27, is coming off a down year and is set to make $2.2 million in base salary in 2017 as part of the three-year, $13.5 million deal he signed in March 2016
