Don’t talk the talk if you cannot walk the walk.
Norman said that during pregame some Raiders receivers let him and Washington’s other defensive backs that they would hit 200 yards during their game.
Washington went on to beat Oakland 27-10 in a game that saw the Redskins shut down the potent Raiders offense.
“What was personal, other than them getting their tails whupped?” Norman said after the game (h/t ESPN).
“I mean, first and foremost, you don’t come up in here and say what you’re going to put up on somebody. Two hundred yards? [Crabtree] didn’t catch two balls. He only caught one, huh? So please, whatever you do, do not run your mouth if you’re a wide receiver and expect to show up on Sundays, because I’m telling you, we are here and we are waiting.
“Don’t come out here and tell me what you’re going to do. Show me. You’re going to have to run through me to get that.”
Norman singled out Raiders wideouts Michael Crabtree and Amari Cooper.
“Whatever that young cat said, Coop, go and take it back,” Norman stated during his postgame rant.
“Crabtree? I have nothing to say to you. Yes, I may be Cover 2, but I’m Cover 1 too. I’m Cover 1, Cover 2, Cover 3 and Cover 4. All of them. All of the ingredients to make a perfect attack. We do all the extra stuff. When you come out on this field, you going to see about us.”
“Sherm was right. [Crabtree] ain’t going to say he’s sorry, but I don’t think he’s sorry,” Norman said. “He sucked, to be honest with you. You don’t come out here and do that extra stuff, man. We don’t play that out here.”
Jags’ Leonard Fournette, Jalen Ramsey, Others Remain Questionable
The Jacksonville Jaguars have a number of players on the mend, and running back Leonard Fournette and cornerback Jalen Ramsey are both questionable for Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans, according to ESPN’s Michael DiRocco.
Fournette and Ramsey aren’t alone, as running back T.J. Yeldon, cornerback D.J. Hayden, and right guard A.J. Cann are all questionable as well.
Fournette will likely be a gametime decision.
“We’ve been playing a lot of tough games,” Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone said. “Players are doing the best job they can to get themselves ready to go, but we played a home opener in New York. We played a home opener here. Now we’ve got a divisional opponent.
“When you look at it a lot of teams are going through the same thing, just trying to keep everybody as healthy as they possibly can.”
Bengals’ Billy Price Out with Leg Injury
The Cincinnati Bengals will be without rookie center Billy Price as he is dealing with a lower left leg injury, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Paul Dehner Jr.
“Finally figured out what it was this morning,” Price said. “Last couple days was just trying to figure out what it is and what’s the plan going forward. They thought it was an ankle now turned to a foot, there wasn’t any swelling and it wasn’t Lisfranc, so just thankful for that. That’s great news.”
Price will be re-evaluated in two weeks by doctors.
Patriots Sign Corey Coleman To Practice Squad
New England originally signed Coleman to its 53-man roster last week, but he was cut when the Patriots acquired Josh Gordon in a trade with the Cleveland Browns. The Pats then opted to add Coleman to their practice squad.
Coleman is close to being out of the NFL completely after his cut from the Buffalo Bills, following his bottoming out with the Cleveland Browns.
