The Atlanta Falcons bolstered their defensive unit in the NFL Draft and they are hoping that Takkarist McKinley leads the way.

McKinley’s progress has been slowed a bit due to shoulder surgery performed back in March of this year.

While McKinley has shown flashes he still has a ways to go. Thus far, McKinley has been working with the second team and occasionally works with the starters on 11-on-11 drills.

According to ESPN’s Vaughn McClure, McKinley has flashed both strength in speed:

He’s shown flashes of his ability to help the team’s pass rush, specifically with his bull rushes during 1-on-1 drills. But McKinley still has a lot of work to from a technique standpoint.
