The Kansas City Chiefs are expecting to lose running back Spencer Ware for the season after the rusher suffered a torn PCL along with other damage.

Ware’s injury occurred in Friday night’s game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Ware will get a second opinion, but the injury is thought to be season-ending and NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Saturday that Ware also suffered LCL damage.

Rapoport reported on Sunday that Kansas City is holding out hope that Ware can be placed on injured reserve/designated to return.

Ware was expected to have a much bigger year with the team’s renewed dedication to running the ball and after a breakout season in 2016 when Ware rushed for career-high 921 yards.

Ware’s injury thrusts Kareem Hunt into the starting role.
