They’re not division rivals and they don’t even play in the same conference, but that didn’t stop New Orleans’ Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan from taking a shot at Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles.
Jordan was appearing on SiriusXM NFL Radio on Wednesday and started discussing what it’s like to go up against Drew Brees in practice.
That’s when the shots were fired.
“[Facing Brees in practice] helps the defense. It’s not like we’re going against Blake Bortles. It’s not like Drew is giving picks away.”
Bortles has been struggling in camp with the Jags after a very disappointing 2016 campaign which had many wondering if Bortles was on a sharp decline.
Apparently Jordan has been paying attention to Bortles’ struggles in Jacksonville and he is right; he’s no Drew Brees.
Jags’ Leonard Fournette, Jalen Ramsey, Others Remain Questionable
The Jacksonville Jaguars have a number of players on the mend, and running back Leonard Fournette and cornerback Jalen Ramsey are both questionable for Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans, according to ESPN’s Michael DiRocco.
Fournette and Ramsey aren’t alone, as running back T.J. Yeldon, cornerback D.J. Hayden, and right guard A.J. Cann are all questionable as well.
Fournette will likely be a gametime decision.
“We’ve been playing a lot of tough games,” Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone said. “Players are doing the best job they can to get themselves ready to go, but we played a home opener in New York. We played a home opener here. Now we’ve got a divisional opponent.
“When you look at it a lot of teams are going through the same thing, just trying to keep everybody as healthy as they possibly can.”
Jaguars Cam Robinson Suffers Torn ACL
Jacksonville Jaguars left tackle Cam Robinson will miss the rest of the season after tearing his ACL during Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.
Robinson, 22, started 15 games during his rookie season with Jacksonville.
His loss will force the Jags to either turn to Will Beatty, Cyrus Kouandijo, Austin Pasztor, or Don Barclay, or scour the free agent market for options.
Jaguars’ Marqise Lee Out For Season
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marqise Lee will be out for the entire 2018 season due to a major knee injury he suffered during Saturday night’s preseason games against the Atlanta Falcons, and the team will place him on the injured reserve list soon.
Jacksonville opted to let Allen Robinson go in free agency and rewarded Lee with a four-year deal worth up to $38 million, including $18 million guaranteed. The loss of Lee for the season is a devastating blow for the Jaguars.
While the injury to Lee could suggest that the Jags could explore free agent Dez Bryant, head coach Doug Marrone said that he is “comfortable” with his receivers when asked about the possibility of adding Bryant, according to NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo.
